Dr. C.Malik Boykin
Dr. Boykin is an assistant professor in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic & Psychological Sciences and the Lab Director of the RISE Lab at Brown. His work addresses bias in decision-making algorithms and attitudes towards HBCUs.
Adam Broun
Treasurer
Essential Skills Assessment
Adam brings 35 years of experience in technology, finance, and consulting. He was most recently CEO of Kensho, an ML fintech company that he sold to S&P Global. He has also held senior positions at Credit Suisse and Deloitte Consulting.
Matthew Huggins
Head of Programming
Matthew has developed models for Bose’s Natural Language Understanding system and worked on Jibo, the world’s first social robot for the home. He holds an SB and M.E in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in AI from MIT.
Philip Fried
Lead Essential Skills Coach
Philip retired from 25 years at PwC as a Consulting partner. He holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Harvard Law School and a Master of Laws (LLM) from New York University.
Taiwo Togoun
Gillian is a seasoned executive with 30+ years of experience in consulting, corporates and startups. She has led technology innovation for a large Swiss bank and served as the Chief Data Officer for an Emotional Data Analytics startup.
Executive Director
An educator and data scientist, Taiwo is head of the Computer Science program at a private K-12 in Westport, CT. He holds a Master’s in Technology Leadership from Brown and a PhD. in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from Yale.

Dr. Stephanie Tavarez
Virginia is an experienced board director, technology advisor, and investor with deep domain expertise in financial services, business services, and consumer sectors. She is a former senior technology executive of multinational firms.
Dr. Tavarez is an I/O psychologist with seven years of applied industry/experimental research and higher education experience. Her work addresses topics like diversity, equity, and inclusion and higher education and employability.
